Radon Testing

Metro Boston Property Inspections is fully certified by the International Association of Certified Indoor Air Consultants (IAC2) for Radon Testing and the American Association of Radon Scientists and Technologists

You cannot see, smell or taste radon. The only way to know is to test. Any home can have a radon problem-new homes or old homes-well insulated homes or drafty homes-homes with or without basements.

For Home Buyers

At Metro Boston Property Inspections, we strive to make radon testing easy for everyone involved in the transaction. Whenever possible, our office staff will schedule our certified radon technicians to set up the radon test 48-96 hours in advance of the home inspection. The test will then be retrieved at the time of the inspection, and the results emailed out the same day we pick up the test. If it is not possible to set up 2 days in advance, we will set up the test at the inspection, pick it up 2 days later, and provide the results that day. Our E-Perm Canisters provide the timely results of a continuous radon monitor, while providing the reliability of the double vial test, and are a new way to ensure fewer delays getting to the P&S.

For Homeowners

The EPA recommends testing every home, every 2-3 years for radon gas. The only way a homeowner can tell if elevated radon levels are present in the home is to test. Homeowners can choose either short-term testing (less than 96 hours) or long-term testing (91 days or more). We provide the same time reporting for homeowners as we do for a real estate transaction.

Short-Term Testing

When performing a short-term test, we deploy 2 E-perm canisters on the lowest occupied level of the home (for real estate transactions it is the lowest level suitable for occupancy). We leave the devices exposed for 48-96 hours. We take the final reading the day we pick up the devices and provide the results the same day via email.

Mark Weinzierl

Associate Inspector

Hi, my name is Mark, I am married and expecting my first child any day! Previous to becoming a home inspector, I was a science and engineering teacher and later a property manager.

I joined the team at Metro Boston Property Inspections in 2021. It has been a great experience working with and learning from the many professionals here at MBPI.

For many, buying a home is the biggest financial decision they have ever made. As a licensed home inspector, I get to help people during this exciting and stressful process by teaching them about the homes they are hoping to buy.

I look forward to meeting you when the time comes to for you to purchase your first, or next home!

Robert Madzar

Residential Construction Home Inspector

My name is Rob Madzar I joined the Metro Boston Property Inspection team this year after 30 years of working in residential construction.

  • In addition to my home inspector license, I have a construction supervisor’s license and a real estate agent’s license.
  • I am mold certified
  • I was looking to join an established inspection company with a proven track record of excellent Customer service, and high expectations of their employee’s professionalism. I found both at Metro Boston Property Inspections.
  • I look forward to helping show clients our high standards.

We provide real estate inspections for both residential and commercial clients ranging in size from small garden-style apartments up to 50,000 SF commercial properties. We provide our clients a computer-generated narrative report within 24 hours of the inspection for residential clients and 2 businesses for commercial clients.

Missy Boyle

Operations Manager

Hello, my name is Missy and I am the Operations Manager. I have been with MBPI since June of 2017. I came to MBPI with an extensive real estate background. I worked as a licensed real estate assistant for over 12 years at one of the largest real estate companies in the world.

I love helping clients and agents alike by educating them on our services and doing whatever I can to accommodate their busy schedules! I consider it a personal challenge to exceed everyone’s requests. I love talking with people and can relate to them and what they are going through because of my real estate background. I also love when it’s time to follow up with our clients and agents after the inspection…it is so wonderful to hear all the kind things they have to say about our inspectors and how thorough and wonderful they are!

Customer Service is a HUGE priority for all of us at Metro Boston Property Inspections, and we can’t wait to help you when you’re ready for us!
